TIMBER
HILLS
a novel
by Vicki
Lynn Baker
|
|
Gil and Gus, inseparable
as children, find themselves following entirely different
paths as they enter adulthood. Gil heads West the day he turns
seventeen, leaving Gus behind to join their father in the
family lumber business.
Timber Hills takes the reader away from computers, fax machines,
noisy city streets, the stress of current times, and places
them in a more relaxing period when the air was fresh and
doors were left unlocked. A peaceful era when stories were
told from porch swings and children gathered to play kick-the-can
on warm summer nights. And when the last page is read, the
reader may want to start over just so he or she can stay a
little longer. |
A review from a reader
on Barnes & Noble's website:
| The idea of
writing about a sawmill was a fresh and different concept.
The author brought every human emotion to life in this story.
I felt I knew these characters, could feel and sense their
surroundings. When the book was finished I wanted to read
her next one. Looking forward to the sequel! |
